Anambra Guber Poll: INEC, Security Agencies Strategize to Mitigate Electoral Risks
AWKA – The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Friday, convened a crucial Electoral Risk Management Sensitisation workshop in Awka today to address potential security challenges ahead of the poll.
The workshop brought together key stakeholders to proactively identify and strategize against security threats that could impact the integrity of the election scheduled for November 8, 2025.
During the session, participants engaged with detailed presentations on the use of Electoral Risk Management Tools and the identification of various risk factors, indicators, and their severity levels. A key component of the workshop was the review of a harmonized map outlining potential flashpoints and security risk factors specific to the state.
Addressing the attendees, National Commissioner Prof. Rhoda Gumus praised the state security agencies for their exemplary performance in securing the environment during recent bye-elections. She emphasized the need for sustained partnership, urging them to continue to collaborate with the Commission for a peaceful election.
In her remarks, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) for Anambra State, Dr. Queen Elizabeth Agu, expressed her gratitude to the members of the Inter-Consultative Committee on Election Security (ICCES) for their consistent cooperation. She, however, cautioned against complacency, urging participants not to take anything for granted but to accord the deliberation at the workshop with the seriousness it deserves to ensure a secure and credible electoral process.
