AWKA – Residents of Anambra State and some communities in Enugu State will face a two-day scheduled power outage from Sunday, August 31, to Monday, September 1, 2025. The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) announced the planned interruption that will occur daily from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
The outage is to allow the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) to conduct critical maintenance. According to a statement issued on Saturday, the EEDC Head of Corporate Communication, Emeka Ezeh, explained that TCN crews will be replacing faulty overhead insulators at the Awada 330kV switch yard.
The affected areas include all of Anambra State, as well as Oji River and its surrounding communities in Enugu State.
Ezeh, stated that the maintenance is essential for improving the quality and reliability of the power supply to the region in the long term.
“The exercise is aimed at enhancing the quality of service. We regret the inconvenience this may cause and appeal for our customers’ understanding”, Ezeh said.
