Amawbia Community Pledges Overwhelming Support for ADC, Citing Nwobu’s Past Performance

AWKA, The people of Amawbia in Awka South Local Government Area have thrown their weight behind the African Democratic Congress (ADC), pledging to galvanize support for the party’s governorship ticket ahead of the November 8, 2025 election. The endorsement came during a community engagement event led by the ADC’s Deputy Governorship Candidate, Hon. Ndubisi Nwobu.
Addressing the vibrant crowd, Nwobu, a former Executive Chairman of Awka South LGA, positioned the ADC as the last true alternative for the people of Anambra. He delivered a candid critique of the incumbent administration, highlighting what he termed a failure to fulfill the “Anambra-Dubai-Taiwan” vision promised in 2021.
“The first fundamental duty of any government is the security of lives and property,” Nwobu stated, addressing the alarming and unprecedented state of insecurity across Anambra. He criticized the current ‘piston and mortar’ security methods as archaic and ineffective, promising that an ADC government would embrace modern technology and ICT to safeguard citizens. “It is heartbreaking to know that some of our communities are now inaccessible today due to insecurity. This is not rocket science,” he insisted.
The event also served as a reunion, with Nwobu reminding the community of their strong relationship during his tenure as Mayor of Awka South. He recalled appointing one of their own as the General Manager of Awka South Mass Transit Limited, a decision he said was based on competence and his commitment to fairness and local talent.
The response from the Amawbia community was overwhelming. Attendees fondly acknowledged his past performance and pledged their full support for him and the ADC Governorship Candidate, Mr. John Chuma Nwosu.
Nwobu outlined the party’s transformative “SHEEEMS” agenda, a seven-pillar program focused on Security, Health, Education, Economy, Environment, Markets, and Social Welfare. According to Nwobu, “Having been off the elective ballot since 2002, I am now back, and I need your support,” he declared. “We are determined to take power and guide our state to a safe and prosperous future.”
With the November 8 Anambra gubernatorial election just a few weeks away, the ADC’s grassroots engagement appears to be building significant momentum, with the pledge from Amawbia marking a key milestone in their campaign.
